This year’s conference will focus on the journey from student leader to civic leader. Student and group registration will open on Monday, December 5, 2016.

The conference planning committee is now accepting proposals for 2017. Please click on the link below to submit your proposal. The submission deadline is Tuesday, November 1, 2016. The intention is to respond no later than Monday, December 5, 2016 to all presenters.

For our program, inclusion is defined as a belief that inclusivity can be achieved if people are meaningfully involved in institutional practices and processes. While definitions vary, we consider inclusive leaders as those who listen to and reflect the wide range of human histories, cultures, ethnicities and perspectives of society. They recognize that leaders are everywhere, regardless of power or position. They create spaces for cultural interaction. The markers of distinction are ethnicity, race, social class, cultural background, religion, gender, sexual orientation, mental and physical ability, and language.

Sample topics of break-out sessions include:
• Building powerful partnerships for positive change
• Civic leadership and engagement
• Cultural competence
• Inclusive campus leadership practices
• Leading with integrity
• Leadership in the 21st century
• Racial inclusiveness
• LGBTQA inclusiveness
• Leadership tools and best practices

Please Note: The majority of presentations are for college students but the committee will accept limited number presentations for student organization advisors or student affairs professionals. Conference fees are waived for one presenter per presentation. We encourage you to submit no more than two proposals, either as a main presenter or co-presenter. All proposals will be reviewed by the planning committee in November and selected presenters will be notified by Monday, December 5, 2016.
